Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson born to British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby & Chris Watson in Paris, France. As a child she attended her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma's dream was to become an actor. When she was 6she was enrolled into the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch and took lessons for acting, singing and dance. At the age of 10, she had performed and taken the lead in various Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel began casting in 1999. Agents for casting found Emma through her Oxford theatre teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after 8 auditions, that she had been chosen for these roles. Emma was chosen to play alongside Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut on the big screen came in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. It was the highest-grossing film of 2001, the film set records for its debut day opening and opening weekend takings. The critics were impressed by the movie and its performances. The Daily Telegraph praised Emma for her excellent performance. Emma's performance was recognized and was awarded five awards for the film.
